Faith, Hope and Love

Three days ago I had post written and ready to put out into the cyber universe. Three days ago news fromNewtown, Connecticut stopped me and an entire nation in its tracks. Like many of you I’ve been reading posts online, watching the news, riding the roller coaster of emotions about something that is so incomprehensible that it shook me to my core. I’ve been trying to figure out what to say about this unspeakable act. I’ve read some very well written articles, posts, e-mails etc. about this tragedy. What could I possibly have to say that hasn’t been said, what can I possibly offer that will do any good?  The answer is really nothing. What I can do is simply share. Share what I have been thinking about for the past few days.

“Three things will last forever–faith, hope and love– and the greatest of these is love”

1 Corinthians 13:13

No matter your religious beliefs, it’s time to hold strong to your faith. Faith in a higher power, faith in our great nation, faith in the power of recovery and healing. Our unified faith in one another cannot be taken away by one person’s heinous acts.

We must hope that the lives that were lost were not in vein and that the conversations about mental illness, gun control and keeping our children safe in the future will continue until there is a resolution. Regardless of what side you fall on with any of the difficult topics being discussed as a result of this heartbreak, the dialogue provides hope for much needed change.

If you love someone tell them.  Don’t wait.  Don’t hesitate.  Don’t allow fear or anger or hurt to get in your way.  Don’t let your schedule allow you to be robbed of that moment you need to say the three words that are the most important words you’ll say all day.  Let the loved ones in your life know how much they mean to you.  Not just today or for the next week.  Make a point to tell them and show them all the time.  Take the time.

Counting Blessings

The holiday season has officially begun.  At this time of year I tend to reflect on the beauty of the season.  Spending time with family, friends, giving thanks for my own life blessings and the blessings I see all around me.  One of my favorite parts of this time of year is the joy in my children’s eyes when the holiday decorations start to be placed around the house and the excitement I hear in their voices when they start listing the items they hope will await them under the tree on Christmas morning.

This year many of my friends are giving a gift that means so much to me not just as a business owner but as a parent of a child walking the rocky path of Autism.

Our own little Onyx Stone, Blake, was born in 2002 and as each of his layers are uncovered; we become more and more inspired to share all that he has taught us about the many paths of Autism. Through our continuing journey into his world, Blake has brought us to a new awareness and we want to share a glimpse into the ever changing colors of our rare gem.

I wish to take this moment to thank all of the wonderful supporters, clients and friends that have attended my shows and purchased jewelry for the upcoming holiday season.  The overwhelming support of not only my custom jewelry but also of my mission has been such an amazing catalyst into some new and incredible things you’ll be seeing soon, I feel truly blessed.
